ACPE Hemenway Scholars Summer Stipend Support for Students (Up to $50,000 in available funding) 

 

Purpose 

Named in honor of Joan Hemenway, a pillar of the association, this scholarship recognizes the significant financial burdens many ACPE students face. 

The Foundation will award stipends of up to $2,000 to as many as 25 summer ACPE students enrolled in an unpaid CPE unit or Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy clinical placement. Funds may be used to support housing, living expenses, educational debt, or other costs associated with participation.

Eligibility 

Applicants must be fully accepted into: 
· An ACPE-accredited CPE program, or 
· An accredited Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy program. 
Some exclusions may apply.

Application Criteria 

Awards will be made to ACPE students who: 
· Have accepted a position in an unpaid summer CPE unit or Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy clinical placement and can provide documentation of acceptance; 
· Identify as part of underrepresented identity groups within ACPE and contribute to the diversity of the spiritual care profession; 
· Demonstrate financial need and the impact this support would have on their ability to participate. 

Hemenway Scholars will be required to submit a written reflection on their learning experiences following completion of their summer unit.

ACPE Boisen Scholars Professional Development Support (Up to $15,000 in available funding) 

Purpose 

Named in honor of Anton Boisen, founder of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), Boisen Scholar Awards support the professional development and formation of ACPE students, Psychotherapists and Certified Educator Candidates. 

Boisen Scholar awards provide financial assistance to attend the ACPE Annual Meeting or a Community of Practice gathering. Funds may be used for registration, lodging, transportation, and other related expenses. 

At the discretion of the Foundation Grants Committee, awards may also include hardship or professional development assistance to support Certified Educator Candidates as they matriculate through their process.

Eligibility 

Applicants must be a current: 
· ACPE Certified Educator Candidate (CEC), 
· CPE Intern or Resident, or 
· Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy student. 

Boisen Scholar funds are limited to one award per student per calendar year.

Awards will be made to applicants who: 

· Demonstrate meaningful engagement with ACPE and a commitment to professional formation in spiritual care or spiritually integrated psychotherapy; 
· Identify as part of underrepresented identity groups within ACPE and contribute to the diversity of the spiritual care profession; 

· Demonstrate financial need and the impact this support would have on their ability to participate. 

Boisen Scholars will be required to submit a written reflection following their conference or Community of Practice participation.
