Reflections from Alaska: A Sacred Gathering

From August 6 to 10, the Womanist Approach to Care and Curriculum Community of Practice gathered in Alaska for a powerful time of connection and peer review in support of Dr. Pat Wilson Cone. We were deeply blessed by Dr. Bridgett Piggue, who led us in a sacred group process to begin the stages of healing—not only as educators, but as women carrying both individual and systemic wounds
We were reminded:
“Our bodies are alive.”
This gathering marked a sacred beginning—a collective exhale, a remembering, and a recommitment to our shared work.
There is room at the table!
We are excited to invite you into the sacred circle of the Womanist Approach to Care and Curriculum—a community of practice created for women educators, chaplains, psychotherapists, and spiritual caregivers. Rooted in Womanist wisdom, we gather to share truth, healing, and liberation as “other mothers and sister friends.”
Our mission is to nurture a space where we can show up fully—where our stories, scholarship, and sacred selves are honored. We focus on personal, pastoral, and professional development, while also holding space for vulnerability, transparency, and joy.
🗓 Join us every 2nd Wednesday of the month from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm, EST

Whether you are a seasoned educator or just beginning your journey, we welcome you. Come as you are. Bring your brilliance, your questions, your weariness, and your hope. There is room for you here.
We leave you with an excerpt from a poem written to our CoP members by one of our CoP members, Rev. Dr. Trina Williams:
Sister’s, today we celebrate ourselves!
Regardless!!!
In this coming year
May we put down some of our heavy burdens
May we unyoke ours!
May we put down always being resilient and pick up rest
May we put down always being tenacious and pick up transparency
May we put down living individually and pick up this Womanist community
May we put down always being the healer and pick up being healed ...
And together, only together we will move these mountains
Especially those mountains within!
Sassy Womanist Sisters
Only together we will move these mountains
Especially those mountains within!
Ashe, Ashe, Ashe
