Continuing the Good Work
The season of giving is approaching as we prepare for Giving Tuesday, November 30, 2021. The importance of giving to this organization was made apparent to me when I was in supervisory education. I attended my first REM conference and was made aware of the seminal work in place to address disparities in the ACPE and thusly our professions. Some of the initiatives that played a large role for me included financial support for students to attend ACPE’s national meetings, as well as consultations for students of color in the certification process.
To continue the missional impact of the reach of the ACPE’s presence in our professions, I became a donor, then, I got involved with the ACPE Foundation as a Fundraising Champion. Today as the Annual Campaign Chair, I am honored to join you as we continue our commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. With the addition of our psychotherapist members, ACPE strives to be an organization whose donors are representative of the diversity of our membership, and we are committed to raising funding that support equity initiatives.
Initiatives such as the ACPE Foundation MAP Fund Awards and Innovative Program Awards represent the extension of your donations toward our commitment. For example, this past year your gifts have supported projects like the translation of the ACPE Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP) curriculum into the Korean language, as well as provide opportunities for African American clergy to receive training based in ACPE’s spiritually integrated framework. Additionally, your gifts have also supported Sankofa CPE Partners collaboration with Eden Theological Seminary to allow students to complete clinical hours at LiveFree St. Louis, providing spiritual care to clients amid them receiving free PPE and COVID-19 testing, employment resources, non-perishable food items, and police reform initiatives. I would like to invite others to join this mission to serve as Champions, particularly ACPE psychotherapist members, and continue to support projects like this through your giving. For more information, contact ACPE Development Specialist Jasmine Okafor or make your gift today!
