Accreditation Updates – July 2025
Dear colleagues,
As we continue to live into this season of transition, I want to share some updates and points of clarification on a few Accreditation-related questions:
Q: My program is in Year 3 of the Accreditation cycle. Are we still required to do an Accreditation peer consultation?
A: Although the Accreditation Commission highly recommends taking advantage of this opportunity for building collegiality, as part of the strategic pause, the Year 3 consultation has been made optional for 2025.
Q: I have a student who has already successfully completed Level IIB and wants to register for additional CPE units. What should I do?
A: Students who have already successfully completed Level IIB should register for Level “IIF” (the “F” stands for “Fellowship). Upon completion of the unit, the educator should manually register the unit for credit. The evaluation for students enrolled in IIF will be completed outside of the Hub and emailed to the student. The evaluation should incorporate the student’s own learning goals as well as program-specific curricular objectives related to relevant ACPE Outcomes categories.
Q: I am a CEC who needs to observe an Accreditation site visit as part of my Certification process. What should I do?
A: In coordination with their assigned CCR, the CEC should review the list of upcoming site visits to determine which site review they hope to observe. As all remaining site reviews for 2025 are virtual, please be mindful of time zone differences when selecting a review to observe. The CEC should then contact accreditation@acpe.edu to request to participate in the desired visit as an observer. If the desired visit is still available, the Accreditation Commission will connect the CEC with the National Site Team Chair.
Q: My program is up for review in 2026. What should I do to prepare?
A: At this time, we recommend that programs continue to update their portfolios utilizing the current Accreditation Standards. As shared with the membership during the Annual Conference in May, the Recognition Task Force (RTF) is actively working on a proposal for a redesigned ACPE Accreditation model. Per the RTF timeline, the accreditation revision implementation plan will be shared at ACPE’s Fall Leadership meeting.
With gratitude,
Amy Seat, ACPE Accreditation Commission Chair
