Update to Certification Manual in relation to what is currently here:

D. Introduction to the Certified Educator Competencies - ACPE Manuals - 2025

Phase II CEC requisites now include:

  • Complete core curriculum for Phase II Certification Core Curriculum
  • Completion of Phase II Competency Assessment Form phase-ii-competencies-assessment-form_v3.docx
  • Complete the ACPE education training in Organization Leadership (provided at Spring 2025 Annual Conference.  More details to come for other upcoming training sessions.)
  • Upload developed curriculum that addresses Level I/II Outcomes and Indicators (see P2.15)
  • Demonstrate training and acquaintance with ACPE Accreditation processes and by substantively engaging in one or more of the following options:
    • Participate as an observer in a full Site Team Visit  (this is preferred option if possible)
    • Observe Site Team Review preparatory work of completing Site Team checklist for another program (prior to actual visit, would likely be a virtual meeting):
      • For either of these opportunities, the CEC will first reach out to their assigned CCR to help determine which site review they hope to observe.  The CEC will then contact accreditation@acpe.edu to request to participate as an observer and to be connected with its National Site Team Chair.
      • If confirmed as an observer, the CEC must submit beforehand required forms to NSTC (link to form to come re: no substantive gifts; may not exploit info; may not recruit during visit; new observer declaration form)
    • Work with training educator to help generate accreditation portfolio updates at their own Program complete and submit a current, completed Annual Accreditation form.
    • Work with training educator to substantively assist with Preparations for site review and/or ongoing accreditation maintenance at one’s own Program.
      • ACPE Programs annually monitor and report accreditation.  A 2025 sample form is here.
      • Directly help update accreditation materials; describe this content and process.
      • Study the Accreditation portfolio at one’s own Program; assess compliance with Standards; identify the work necessary to improve the portfolio’s demonstration of compliance.
      • Phase II CECs can be included in work assignments related to the Site Visit Checklist and review of Standards being done by prior to site team visit at one’s own Program
      • Participate in developing the self-study at one’s own Program.

Prior to engagement in or completion of this Phase II accreditation work and learning, the CEC and their Training Educator will notify their CCR for update and consultation.

The CEC will consult their Training Educator and CCR in advance to select the best option for their learning process.  Following completion of this requirement, CEC’s will include in their certification portfolio a document that includes:

  • Option(s) chosen.
  • Date, location, description of engaged accreditation work.  Team members included in this work.
  • Reflect on your experience of participating in the site review. What did you learn that you didn't know before? Highlight any surprises that arose for you. What do you think your strengths and growing edges will be as they relate to accreditation standards and portfolio maintenance?  What did you witness/observe that you thought was a strength that you'd like to incorporate in some way in the future?
  • Additional documents, materials related to this accreditation requisite to certification/cec portfolio.

Completion of this reflection, along with accompanying documents, will be assessed by the CCR and discussed with the CEC and Training Educator prior to a request for Phase 2 Review.
