Proposed Standards Changes

After a review of the current standards and receiving feedback from the ACPE membership and the Anti-Bias Work Group, the Accreditation Commission is proposing the following changes to the ACPE Standards as part of our regular review process.

The review and feedback period has closed.

Standard 1 – Educational Environment

CURRENT
A program has an educational plan that engages its students in a process model of education and clinical method of learning, ensuring an educational environment and clinical population that present appropriate learning opportunities, sites, and placements for student engagement and spiritual care.

PROPOSED
A program has an educational plan that engages both a process model of education and the clinical method of learning, ensuring an educational environment that provides appropriate learning opportunities.

Standard 2 – Curriculum

NO CHANGES
A program has an articulated curriculum for its educational programs and demonstrates a continuous process for improvement of its curriculum.

Standard 3 – Educational Resources

NO CHANGES
A program provides the framework and resources necessary to support and facilitate student learning.

Standard 4 – Management of CPE Programs

CURRENT
A program demonstrates consistent and fair management of its programs for all students.

PROPOSED
A program demonstrates consistent and equitable management of its educational programs for all students.

Standard 5 – Infrastructure and Financial Resources

CURRENT

A program demonstrates financial resources, effective leadership, collaborative relationships with stakeholders, and the structures and processes necessary to meet program goals during the period of its accreditation and employs a planning process which allows for sustainability and continuing vitality.

PROPOSED
A program demonstrates the infrastructure and financial resources necessary to meet program goals during the period of its accreditation and employs a planning process allowing for sustainability and continuing vitality.

CURRENT: Standard 6 – Continuous Improvement

PROPOSED: Standard 6 - Continuous Improvement of Operations and Program Management
