One unit of CPE is preferred but not required.  The application fee of $25 must accompany the application.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Chaplain Resident, under supervision of CPE educator and manager, provides spiritual care to patients, families and staff of Harris Health System.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1.  An individual who, through a written application and admissions interview, has demonstrated the ability to participate in an ACPE certified CPE Program.
  2.  One who has successfully completed at least one year of theological school or 72 academic hours of accredited theological education.
  3.  Other requirements or education and experience as a specific ACPE Center may be required. Experience working with diverse populations or religious institutions. One previous CPE unit preferred; not required
  4.  Equipment Operated: computer, telephone, pager.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking)
Bilingual Skills Preferred
Writing /Composing (Correspondence / Reports)

2.  Other Skills:
Analytical, Medical Terms Statistical Computer Proficiency:  MS Word MS Excel


3.  Work Schedule:   Weekends    Flexible       Overtime       Travel       On Call
