As we quickly approach #ACPEproud week, (August 3-5, 2021) the Foundation for ACPE would like to recognize all of our retired members. The Foundation for ACPE is the legacy of trailblazing ACPE members who responded to the need for nurturing spiritual care professionals for generations to come.  Over the years, many retired members have contributed donations to our endowment. We continue to reap the benefits of those gifts today. Income from our endowment has helped us to not only provide continuing education through the Glaz-Plummer plenaries, but has also given us much needed financial support to navigate the economic volatility caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and other tumultuous events.

Here are a few ways retired members can continue to support the next generation of spiritual care professionals:

Volunteer for Theory Paper reading.  We have an obligation to all of our Certified Educator Candidates, and those in the “old” certification process still need readers willing to help them along one of the most important steps in their journey.  If interested, please email ACPE Certification Administrator Sheilah Hawk at certification@acpe.edu

Provide Didactic Resources and/or Scaled Therapy for ACPE Students.  Retired ACPE Psychotherapists have a wealth of knowledge that can benefit ACPE students as they complete their clinical training. You might also wish to offer scaled psychotherapy for ACPE students in need of care for the caregiver. If interested, please email ACPE Continuing Education & Membership Engagement Coordinator Ruth McPhail Ubaldo at Ruth.McPhail-Ubaldo@acpe.edu

Stay Engaged with Your ACPE Community of Practice.  We benefit from the wisdom of seasoned ACPE Certified Educators, Practitioners and Psychotherapists. Staying engaged with your Community of Practice is a great way to provide wisdom and guidance to the next generation of spiritual care educators and providers. If you have any questions, please email ACPE Director of Communities of Practice Katherine Higgins at katherine.higgins@acpe.edu

Give a gift to ACPE.  Your gift ensures that ACPE remains the gold standard for spiritual care and education, and that our transformative education process remains accessible to as many students as possible. Make an online gift online or contact ACPE Development Specialist Jasmine Okafor at jasmine.okafor@acpe.edu for info on how to send your gift via mail.

Make ACPE a part of your Legacy. You can make a gift to ACPE that costs you nothing now, and will continue to give for years to come.  A gift in your will is one way you can secure your estate and create an impactful legacy with ACPE. You can also encourage other retired ACPE members to leave a legacy to ACPE by joining the Anton Boisen Legacy Society Advisory Group. Contact Jasmine Okafor at jasmine.okafor@acpe.edu to learn more about the advisory group and to discuss, at no obligation, how you can include ACPE in your estate plans.

During #ACPEproud week, we will celebrate the following retired ACPE members who have earned the designation of Emeritus Educator/Psychotherapist: Robert GreenSheila Hammond, Wayne Menking and Jo Clare Wilson. Please help us celebrate this wonderful occasion by sending them a message of congratulations and well wishes. We look forward to celebrating our colleagues during  #ACPEproud week. We are grateful for their leadership and service over the years. And, we look forward to celebrating your contributions to our association for years to come.
