Description:
This presentation explores the challenges experienced by Christian leaders and their families in balancing living an authentic life with the demands of their public and private roles. We will examine the tension between living genuinely and conforming to societal expectations, discuss the implications for individuals and family dynamics, and explore treatment options for this population.
Learning Objectives:
As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to
1. describe the crisis experiences of Christian leaders and their families as they navigate the tension between living authentically and authentically to conform to external expectations.
2. identify the way Christian leaders and their families perceive the balance between genuine self-expression and external pressures.
3. describe therapeutic interventions designed to help Christian leaders and their families navigate this identity crisis.
4. identify ethical guidelines pertinent to working with this population.

Dr. Melody Thompson has been allotted the opportunity to work in a variety of areas in the mental health and substance abuse field since 2004. She has worked in settings such as crisis line, inpatient, outpatient, Christian counseling, and community mental health; providing assessments, crisis intervention, counseling, audits, reauthorizations, education, etc. She currently specializes in Relationship Counseling, Christian Counseling, and Emotional Wellness.
