Strategic Pause for 2025 Accreditation
Dear ACPE Members –
During the ACPE Information Session and Town Hall on March 11th, we provided you with a thorough update from the Recognition Task Force, which is currently working to assess our accreditation structure, processes, and options for recognition. The Accreditation Commission (AC) represented by Amy Seat, Chair, and Pat Kelly, Chair-elect, also shared that in light of the work of the Task Force, the AC would present a recommendation to the Board of Directors this month regarding accreditation activities for the remainder of 2025. On Friday, March 21st, Amy and Pat joined the governing body to discuss the strategic “pause” suggested during this time of transition. The Board agreed with the necessity for the pause and likewise acknowledged the relief it would bring to all Educators given the continuous changes in accreditation over the past few years. A vote to accept the commission’s recommendation with minimal modification was passed. The specific details include the following:
- Year 6 Site Reviews currently scheduled to take place through May 30, 2025 will proceed as scheduled.
- Year 6 Site Reviews currently scheduled between June 1st and December 31st, 2025 have the option to either postpone the currently scheduled site review or to proceed with a Virtual Site Visit.
- Visits scheduled for June 2025 only will have the option to proceed with in-person visits as scheduled.
- Scheduling for programs due for Year 6 Site Reviews in 2026 will be paused until the ACPE Task Force has completed its work and provided final recommendations for process and practice revisions.
- Pre-Provisional and Provisional Reviews will continue (virtually) as scheduled
- Accreditation reviews for adding Certified Educator CPE will continue
- Called Reviews will continue in person as deemed necessary by the Commission
ACPE Programs are expected to continue upholding ACPE Standards during this transition and should contact their assigned Commissioner with any compliance questions or concerns. We will not make any further updates to the Accreditation Manual until the Task Force has completed its work.
On behalf of ACPE’s Board of Directors, Accreditation Commission, Executive Leadership, and National Staff, we hope this strategic effort will, again, provide some administrative relief while the Task Force continues its work to strengthen our processes. The Accreditation Commission has created an FAQ document to address any potential questions you may have at this time.
Thank you for your continued support of our collaborative efforts and dedication to providing exceptional spiritual care and education. YOU are the essential asset that makes all the difference!
Sincerely,
Lynnett
