Centering Peace Education (CPE)

Written by Shawn Israel

Good morning Beloved, I want to capture the essence Shawn looking at camera
The awestruck wonder of Gods holy presence
As I sit here and pause on a cold day of winter
Leaning on The Father as my goal is to center

My heart has an ache, my soul has a yearn
How do I walk out steps-as a CPE intern?
Do I realize I'm metal and have a fear to burn?
Can you help me Dear Lord with all these things to learn?

How do I bring these thoughts to rest and abide?
When I feel so shaken on the deep inside
Trying to keep my balance as I walk on the ledges
Of collecting affirmations and growing edges

Will you give me the eyes to see each objective?
Can I bring someone through an advanced directive?

With working 2 jobs,  it's a heavy load
Help me regulate my brain out of survival mode
Give me the tools to wait, to know when to hold
Help me make the connections at each trauma code

Trying to take it all in, feeling like a vulture
I'm totally foreign to CPE culture

How do you touch the hearts of men down to their soul?
What are the boundaries in a Chaplains whole?
My angst and sensitivities have taken a toll
Father help me to explore my role and goal

I get so frustrated at the end of my rope
How do I help myself and these patients to cope?
The answer is as basic as water and soap
Meaning, Agency,  Support, and Hope

Help me make it to victory and how can I win it?
Breathe peace in this moment--Do it minute by minute
