ACPE SIP Training Level 2 with Roosevelt Brown and Doug Thorpe (hybrid: online and in person)
The SIP training program is a multi-disciplinary, inter-spiritual, multi-racial community of persons gathered for education, connection, and formation in the work of spiritually integrated psychotherapy. It serves licensed and pre-licensed mental health professionals (i.e., counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and more), as well as graduate students in any of those disciplines who seek to explore the ways spirituality, religion, and the search for meaning influence their own lives and the lives of their clients.

Course 2.5: one final 3-hour session will be scheduled in collaboration with the participants
The 15-hour SIP Program Level 2 Training includes the following three-hour courses:
- Course 2.1 Working with Spiritual Resources, Part 2
- Course 2.2 Working with Harmful Spirituality and Religion
- Course 2.3 Spirituality and Belief System of the Therapist
- Course 2.4 Spiritually Integrated Case Conceptualization, Part 1
- Course 2.5 Spiritually Integrated Case Conceptualization, Part 2 TBD

Continuing Education Credit Available: 15 credit hours
ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7004. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
ACPE Provider 2045, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. ACPE maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 11/01/2024-11/01/2025. Social workers completing this course receive 15.0 Social Work Clinical continuing education credits.

yet the material has been geared toward those individuals who are
licensed or on the path toward licensure. SIP certification is only
possible after a full mental health license has been obtained from your
state of practice.

Doug Thorpe is Executive Director of the Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care and a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is excited to be offering this training in Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy to therapists of diverse backgrounds and theoretical orientations.

Roosevelt Brown is the Chief Chaplain at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He provides pastoral counseling to veterans and their families in the Family Support Program and he works part-time at the Peninsula Pastoral Counseling Center. Roosevelt is a LMFT who has 25 years of experience integrating spirituality and religion into his clinical practice.
