Residency includes 3 units of CPE. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a Magnet® 525-bed facility, is a level 1 adult trauma center that serves as a mid-Atlantic destination medical center and is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance. The hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women’s health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit.

SNGH is also the primary teaching institution for Old Dominion University/Eastern Virginia Medical School. Chaplain residents rotate through different clinical areas and work with board-certified staff chaplain mentors.

SNGH is a unique place to learn the art and skill of spiritual care in an encouraging and challenging environment. Previous unit of CPE is required. Annual stipend is $48,006.40. Tuition is $750 for year. Application fee is waived. Health insurance is available for residents at employee cost.
