International Affiliate Membership Application

Organizations outside the United States of America who support the mission and vision of ACPE, and whose purpose and scope of activity will enhance a mutually collaborative relationship with ACPE, may apply to the Board of Directors for International Affiliate membership. This level of affiliation is beneficial to both the affiliate who may receive mentoring and support, and to ACPE who will be culturally enriched and encounter learning opportunities in the process.

Though affiliates are not part of the central governance structure of ACPE, they have come to play a vital role in enhancing the scope of the organization. Affiliates do not speak for ACPE nor are opinions expressed by them necessarily the opinion or policy of ACPE. Affiliates have no voting rights in ACPE; individual members of such agencies who are members of ACPE have voting rights as determined by their individual membership category in the ACPE Bylaws. Each affiliate pays a $150.00 annual membership fee.

Each International Affiliate:
1. Will be governed by a board responsible for policy and oversight of leadership and operations.
2. Will have appropriate written documents of governance.
3. Will have elected or appointed leadership who is accountable to the board, and has appropriate education, qualifications and experience.
4. Will be connected with relevant accrediting and/or certifying bodies, where available.
5. Will document that they have earned the trust of public(s) served.

6. Will document compliance with these criteria by submitting the following as part of the application process:

a. a copy of the organization's statement of mission, vision and objectives;
b. a copy of the organization's constitution and bylaws;
c. a copy of the organization's code of ethics, or the professional code of ethics the organization has agreed to uphold;
d. a copy of the organizational chart;
e. a list of the members of the operating board and their professional community positions;
f. resume' or curriculum vitae of the organization's leadership, including their education, qualifications and experience for the position held;
g. a list of the credentialing and/or accrediting bodies with which the organization is affiliated;
h. if the organization is a credentialing or accrediting body, a description of the requirements and process for that function;
i. if the organization is a training body, a description of the curriculum and educational methodologies utilized;
j. at least three letters of recommendation from appropriate persons in government, the religious community and the professional sphere in which the organization operates.

Limitations:
While many positive benefits emerge from this relationship, there are limitations or disclaimers that should be noted:
1. ACPE assumes no financial or legal responsibility of any kind for the activities of the International Affiliate.
2. International Affiliates have no voting rights in ACPE, but members of an International Affiliate organization who are individual members of ACPE have voice and vote as determined by their individual ACPE membership category.
3. International Affiliates do not speak for ACPE, nor are opinions expressed by an International Affiliate necessarily the opinion or policy of ACPE.
