CPE PROGRAM DIRECTOR (ACPE CERTIFIED EDUCATOR) SOUGHT FOR THIS EXPANDING CPE CENTER

The VA Puget Sound (VAPSHCS) is seeking an experienced Certified Educator to be the Program Director for Clinical Pastoral Education.  The CPE Center offers excellent Interprofessional and academic training opportunities to enhance the CPE learning.  It is a teaching hospital with nine Centers of Excellence and the fifth largest Research Center within the Veterans Health Administration.   Medical Residents rotate between the VAPSHCS, the University of Washington Medical Center and the Harborview Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center.  The Interprofessional teams appreciate the unique insights from spiritual care.   This excellent training opportunity is matched by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, with the Puget Sound and evergreens as backdrop.

There is strong institutional support for the CPE program with funding confirmed for the next five years.  Funding is secure for the CPE program’s three Resident positions, four Fellowship positions and one CES/C position, along with two ACPE Certified Educator positions (including the CPE Program Director). The VA’s Office of Academic Affiliation (funding for all VA professional Residencies and Fellowships including CPE) expanded the Puget Sound VA’s CPE positions from five to eight in the fall 2020 Recompete.

The CPE program is a component of the Chaplain Service and works together with the Chaplain Chief and staff.  Outstanding Medical and Pension Benefits are included in the CPE Program Director’s compensation package.
