General Summary: The ACPE Certified Educator exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Provides direct CPE supervision at all levels and maintains relationships with seminaries, community clergy, professional organization/s and other relevant bodies. Supports department in the provision of timely high quality interfaith spiritual care to patients, families, friends and staff. Provides in-services and student instruction, participates in research, maintains collegial relationships with other faculty/staff, and contributes to the larger community. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Provide ACPE approved supervision as negotiated with CPE faculty. 
2. Educate students on routine spiritual assessment, intervention and care for neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients as needed or assigned according to all policies and standards set forth by department guidelines. 
3. Provides 24 hours on-call as needed and/or 24 hour resource backup for CPE students. 
4. CPE Screening process: Reads applications and participates in selection interviews for incoming residents and interns. 
5. Participates in the life of the department by attending faculty and department meetings, student graduations and other events. 
6. Evaluations: Writes evaluations and maintains records for ACPE students according to current ACPE standards. 
7. CES Supervision: Supervises Clinical Pastoral Education for Certified Educator Students. 
8. Supervision of Levels I and II: Supervises Level I and Level II. 
9. Accreditation reviews: Participates in preparing for five and ten year accreditation reviews. 
10. Provides supportive care to staff as requested, and serves as resource to staff regarding religious and spiritual issues and perspectives in relation to clinical issues and decisions. 
11. Consults with hospital staff members in relationship to patient care and students. 
12. Serve as lecturer or course director in University courses. 
13. Attend morning report. 
14. Other tasks as assigned and as interest dictates. 
15. Be involved in ongoing evaluation of CPE curriculum and program. 

Master's degree from an accredited theological school/seminary required. 
Minimum one (1) year experience as an Associate Certified Educator required; experience in a hospital environment preferred. 
Completed certification as ACPE Certified Educator by ACPE, Inc. 

Expertise in at least one of the following areas: ethics, research, grief or behavioral sciences. 
Strong oral and written communication competencies. 

Ability to be endorsed by the faith community. 
Strong leadership competency including the ability to identify and develop talent.
